I really enjoy reading your blog since I live on the other side of the U.S.A (Washington State) I have a few friends living in New York. I stayed three months in Brooklyn during the late sixties always loved the Italian food and the deli. My granddaughter is graduating soon I’m going to make ravioli with crab for the dinner is there a recipe for these wonderful looking dishes?

    • Hi Vera! Thanks for the message. I’ll definitely ask Phil what he used for the crab filling and get back to you. He made it before I got there! It’s definitely lump crab meat. Brooklyn really is so special. I’m coming out west soon actually for a friend’s wedding, so I’ll see some of your turf! Congrats to your daughter!

  2. This was such a fun evening. Every time I reread your post I wish more and more that we would have figured out about our similar interests a long time ago. Next time I visit NYC we will definitely have to do some more cooking. I showed my parents the post yesterday. They loved it and were amazed at how beautiful the pictures are. This week I plan to make the Pear & Gorgonzola Raviolis for the restaurant so I may use a picture or two if you do not mind.

    • So great to hear from you, Phil! I too cannot get over how we didn’t discover this passion sooner. I’m really glad that you and your parents liked the post. I wanted to make sure I honored you guys properly. For sure you can use any of the pics you want on your page. Glad your doing the gorgonzola pear again. Those were killer. Thanks for the stock, btw. I made a chicken stock tonight. Can’t wait till you come to visit and we do it again!
